Tour report by John Grubb. (first published in Invicta November '04)

Our first stop was at Whippet's of Fenstanton where a number of ex London Titans and other modern vehicles were seen.

We made good time to Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum where we rode around on  several of their vehicles including their Huddersfield six wheeler no. 631 and Maidstone no. 56, no. 72 being already at Armstrong Road for the Maidstone 100 event.

Sandtoft are hoping that Lottery money will be available so the site can be extended at some stage in the future.

Ken Thompson arrived with ex East Kent Dennis Lancet CFN 121 and took us for a ride to Epworth for a photographic stop, the birth-place of Methodism marked by a blue plaque to Charles Wesley.  CFN 121 has undergone a rebuild of its rear and is in lovely condition being mainly used for private hire and weddings.

Our next visit was to Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society premises outside Lincoln where we were met with a display of local vehicles the best being a 1929 Leyland Lion.

Final ride of the day was aboard a 1955 Bristol Lodekka into its home city of Lincoln with its dominating Cathedral on the hill.  A quick visit to the bus station saw the departure of Road Car 653 in Lincoln Corporation Livery to celebrate their centenary.

25 people travelled on the substitute coach 2910 with two drivers Richard and Peter who provided a very comfortable journey after running repairs to the air conditioning

Once again very many thanks to David Cobb for a difficult tour to organise where planning and execution provided a challenge but from the membership the trip ran seamless as usual.  For those who did not participate in this Tour see what you missed on the 480-mile trip.
